Phyllis Nadine Lane, 84, of Leavenworth, died, Friday, Jan. 18, 2018. She was born Dec. 26, 1933, in Leavenworth, the daughter of George and Gladys Gillaspie.
On Sept. 26, 1968, Phyllis married Howard J. Lane. After 47 years of marriage, Howard preceded her in death Sept. 30, 2015. She was also preceded in death by her parents; four sisters and three brothers; a granddaughter, Sarah Barrette; and a grandson-in-law, Kevin Donald.
Phyllis is survived by a son, Leo (Amy) Vanwey; six daughters, Deborah (Gene) Poff, Karen Melton, Dawn Ekstrom, Connie (Harold) Poe, Penny (Bob) Barrette and Michelle (Mark) Hoag; her extended family; 26 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren; Gary and Gloria Nussman; and many more family friends. She was extremely proud of each and every one of them.
She spent most of her life in Leavenworth where she and her husband “Hubbie” formed lifelong relationships.
Phyllis had numerous jobs over the years to include nursing, volunteer aid work and she was a daycare provider. She was also an active member of the VFW Women’s Axillary and the First Christian Church in Leavenworth.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2018, at the R.L. Leintz Funeral Home. A funeral service will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Mt. Muncie Cemetery.
