Sherman L. Wiehe, 92, Kansas City, Kansas passed away Monday, Aug. 27, 2018 at Life Care Center of Kansas City. Service will be 2 p.m. Friday, at the Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home, 701 N. 94th Street, Kansas City, Kansas. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. The family request that any contributions be made to The American Heart Association.
Sherman was born Jan. 30, 1926 in Walulah, Kansas to William and Grace Wiehe. He served in the U.S. Navy as a Seabee, attached to the Marine Corps during World War II. After his discharge, he moved to Wyandotte County, where he remained a resident, and Farmer for the rest of his life. He was a Welder for General Motors for 33 years before he retired in 1980, and a member of the United Auto Workers. Sherman was a Life Member of VFW Post 6401, American Legion Post 199, Eastern Star Gladiola Chapter 459, the Delaware Masonic Lodge, and White Chapel Christian Church. He enjoyed selling the produce that he grew as well as donating time, money and food to several area churches, shelters and food kitchens.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Mary Ann Wiehe; two children; two grandchildren; as well as nieces, nephews and friends.
