Jill E. Carroll, 75, Leavenworth, passed away, Friday, Sept. 28, 2018, at her home, surrounded by family.

Jill E. Carroll, 75, Leavenworth, passed away, Friday, Sept. 28, 2018, at her home, surrounded by family. She was born Dec. 1, 1942, in Leavenworth, to Harry E. and Opal E. (McCue) Smith.  
Jill graduated from Leavenworth High School in 1960, while attending high school she worked at her parent's pharmacy; Smith Rexall Drugs, formerly located at the corner of 5th and Delaware in Leavenworth.   
In 1973, Jill was an honor graduate of the Electronics Institute in Kansas City, Missouri, with a diploma in Solid State Servicing. She went on to work for Southwestern Bell as a Lineman and later as a Frame man. Jill continued her electronics communications path working for the U.S. Department of the Army partnering with the Core of Engineers in telecommunications work and was officially commended for her exceptionally meritorious service for providing assistance in an outstanding manner. Jill received many other outstanding employee awards before her retirement from the U.S. Government in 1995.
Jill married James L. Bailey in 1961. He preceded her in death in 1980. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Sharon Nelson; and a brother, Larry Smith.
On May 14, 1988, Jill married Donald P. Carroll in Leavenworth. Between them, they have five children; Karen Carroll (Mark Godding), Stacey (Brian) McCaughey, Jim Carroll, Donald W. (Sue) Carroll and John Carroll. Jill is also survived by her twin brother, Jack E. (Linda) Smith; a sister, Judy (Bob) Schies; a sister, Linda (Larry) Sandlin; eight grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; and her loving caregiver, Barbara Warden.      
Jill was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She had a huge passion for Genealogy, documenting her family history back to the early 1600’s. She also loved animals, having many beloved pets of her own over the years. She enjoyed working part-time for the Lowemont Veterinary Clinic.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 4, 2018, at the R.L. Leintz Funeral Home. A funeral service will begin at 10 a.m. Friday, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at St. Lawrence Cemetery in Easton. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the Leavenworth County Special Olympics or Leavenworth Catholic Charities.
