Ralph Lee Seever, 87, formerly of Lowemont, Kansas, passed away Oct. 5, 2018 at Twin Oaks, Lansing, Kansas.

Ralph Lee Seever, 87, formerly of Lowemont, Kansas, passed away Oct. 5, 2018 at Twin Oaks, Lansing, Kansas. Ralph was born Jan. 26, 1931 in Bendena, Kansas to farmers, Oliver (O.P.) and Rosa Bell (McQueen) Seever.  
He served in the Air Force from 1951 to 1955 and was stationed at Keesler AFB, Biloxi, Mississippi. He was also stationed in Anchorage, Alaska and then returned to Keesler AFB to finish his service, where he met his future wife, Frances Elizabeth Powell. While dating they would take frequent motorcycle rides on his 1947 Indian. After serving in the Air Force, he returned to Bendena. Elizabeth traveled to Kansas and they eloped in Rushville, Missouri on July 2, 1955. They settled in Atchison, Kansas, where they started their family.
Ralph was employed with the Missouri-Pacific Railroad in Atchison and worked for them from 1955-1967. He then started his career with the Federal Bureau of Prisons in 1967 in Milan, Michigan. He also worked at the Texarkana, Texas and Leavenworth, Kansas facilities, until his retirement as a Lieutenant in 1987. He was widely known and respected as “Rotten Ralph”. After his retirement from the Bureau, he became employed with Hallmark Cards as security until he retired in 2010.
Ralph was a devoted husband, father and grandfather to his wife, children and grandchildren. He was a very hard worker and always kept busy working around his home. He loved riding his motorcycle, traveling, gardening, taking care of his farm animals and spending time with his family. He had a great sense of humor and loved joking and visiting with others.
Ralph is survived by his wife of 63 years, Elizabeth Seever, his daughter, Belinda Seever Reed, Easton, Kansas, his son, Darrell (Michelle) Seever, Easton, Kansas and his daughter, Karen (Kalvin) Dykes, Boise, Idaho, sister, Mary Zimmerman, Mission, Kansas, nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Wanda Seever, brothers, Harold and Stanley Seever and sister, Orveta Larson.
Visitation will be Thursday, Oct. 11, 2018 at the funeral home at 3 to 6 p.m. Funeral services will be on Friday, Oct. 12, 2018 at the funeral home at 10 a.m. with Rev. John E. Sowers, First Christian Church officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memory Gardens with military honors.   Memorial contributions may be directed to the Shriner’s Hospitals for Children.
