James E. Reno, 79, Leavenworth, died Thursday, Nov. 8, 2018 at Mid-American Heart Institute in Kansas City, Missouri, with family by his side.
James E. Reno, 79, Leavenworth, died Thursday, Nov. 8, 2018 at Mid-American Heart Institute in Kansas City, Missouri, with family by his side. He was born on Aug. 3, 1939, in Slater, Missouri, the son of James Ralph Reno and Maxine (Duren) Douglas
On June 21, 1970, James married Marjorie “Marge” Nielsen. She survives at the home. He is also survived by a daughter, Melissa (Terry) Parkison; two grandchildren, Kira (Zack) Parrett and Ethan Chain; a great-grandson, Lucas James Parrett; two sisters, Daytha (Jim) Heintzelman and Vickie (Dan) Ryan; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Jim was a captain on the Leavenworth Fire Department for 27 years. He thoroughly enjoyed life and had many hobbies including racing, trap shooting, fishing and flying model airplanes with the SomeTimers Club.
James was preceded in death by his parents and his step parents, Marjorie N. Reno and Kenneth Douglas.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, 2018, at the R.L. Leintz Funeral Home. A funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. Friday, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Mt. Muncie Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations are suggested to St. Luke’s Mid-American Heart Institute or a charity of your choice.
