Melissa and Rob were 1974 graduates of Kecoughtan High School, in Hampton and re-met at their 20 year class reunion. They had been married one year when they came to Leavenworth for a military assignment in 1997 and began their married lives. Their love of the area and a growing family kept them in Leavenworth after Rob retired from active duty. They made their N Broadway home of 20 years in the only house they bought together. It was, and remains, the focal point of their lives.

Melissa was an active contributor to the international officer community attending Command and General Staff College at Ft. Leavenworth. She and Rob together sponsored nine international officers and their families. Her greatest love was for all children, her friends, and family.
