Mary Ann Brown Sommerfield, 93, passed away peacefully in her sleep in the presence of family on March 26, 2019 at Homestead Assisted Living Facility where Mary had resided for the past year and a half.

Mary Ann Brown Sommerfield, 93, passed away peacefully in her sleep in the presence of family on March 26, 2019 at Homestead Assisted Living Facility where Mary had resided for the past year and a half. Prior to that Mary had worked at Walmart for over 25 years as a proud door greeter and loved being out with the people and her many friends at Walmart.

Mary, a descendant of John Brown the abolitionist, was born to Glen and Alma Scifers Brown in Pittsburg, Kansas on July 25, 1925.

Mary was preceded in death and received into Heaven by her parents, her husband Robert Sommerfield, her daughter Joyce Ann Sommerfield, sons Robert Sommerfield and Bryon Sommerfield. Brothers John Brown, Chester Brown. Sisters Laura Mae Matson and Maxine Geier.

Mary leaves behind three grandchildren: Robert Brent Sommerfield, Amy Sommerfield and Christian Sommerfield along with four great grandchildren: Grant Robert Sommerfield, Garrett Sommerfield, Carly Sommerfield and Evelyn Sommerfield, several nieces and nephews, and daughter in laws Sandy Sommerfield and Shelly Sommerfield.

Mary was a long standing member of the First United Methodist Church of Leavenworth, Kansas. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Wonderful Wednesday program at the First United Methodist Church. A Celebration of Life Will be held 10 a.m., Saturday, April 13, 2019 at First United Methodist Church.   Arrangements entrusted to Davis Funeral Chapel.
