Jack W. Hutchens, 72, Leavenworth, Kansas, peacefully entered heaven on Monday, April 8, 2019 surrounded by family. 

He was born October 5, 1946 to Wm. Harry & Margaret Hutchens.  Jack was proceeded in death by his parents; his siblings; brothers, Wm. “Bill”, Charles “Ted”, James ‘Jim” Hutchens, Sisters; Gladys Hagemaster, Cora Bryd, Grace Bergman-Cline and granddaughter Alyssa Hutchens. 

Jack is survived by his wife Janis, of the home, his children Matt Hutchens, Michelle (Mike) Owens, Mike (Sharon) Hutchens and Marcus (Amy) Hutchens.  Grandchildren Tyler, Katelyn, Mikey, Derick, Cheyenna, Steven, Kylie, Nathan, MaKayla.  Great-grandson Clarkson Owens and another great-grandchild on the way, and many nieces and nephews.  

Jack went to work for Ken Chmidling when he was 14 years old.  He continued working for him until 1983.  He then went to work for Lansing Correctional Facility in the maintenance department retiring in 2008.  There he earned the nickname Fat Jack and No Slack Jack. He also worked at Tractor Supply until 2011.  He really enjoyed the Sunshine Petting Zoo that he co-owed with Chuck Phillips.  He also loved playing Santa Claus to many children.  He loved going fishing, gardening and tinkering in the barn and outdoors.  Jack was loved and will be missed by all who knew him. 

Visitation will be held at Davis Funeral Chapel on Sunday, April 14, 2019 from 4-8 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at Davis Funeral Chapel on Monday, April 15, 2019 at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Easton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be given to the Hutchens Family. Condolences may be left on Jack’s online guestbook at www.davisfuneralchapelinc.com.
