Shirley (Cookie) A. Peoples passed away peacefully on April 18, 2019 in Lansing, Kansas, where she lived for the last several years of her life.

Shirley (Cookie) A. Peoples passed away peacefully on April 18, 2019 in Lansing, Kansas, where she lived for the last several years of her life.
Shirley was born on Oct. 11, 1935 to Violet (Martin) and Maurice Huckins at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. She graduated from Leavenworth High School. She married Lester Peoples in 1952 and the couple spent most of their life in Bonner Springs, Kansas. The couple had one son, who died in infancy, were foster parents to many children and adopted one son, who passed away in 2016. The couple later divorced.
Cookie was an active member of her church until she became ill. Cookie had a generous, caring spirit and she was dearly loved by all her family and friends. She was a fantastic cook and she loved to read.
Cookie is survived by her sisters, Margaret Elliott, Leavenworth, Violet Schaible, Kansas City Kansas and Marilyn Nicklin, San Benito, Texas, grandson, Bret (Katie) Peoples, grandson, Sheridan, granddaughter, Keaira and many nieces and nephews.
Cookie requested cremation and no memorial services are planned. A family dinner was held as a celebration of her life.
