Gilbert J. Fulk Sr., 82, Leavenworth, passed away, Thursday, May 16, 2019, at his home.

Gilbert J. Fulk Sr., 82, Leavenworth, passed away, Thursday, May 16, 2019, at his home. He was born Jan. 23, 1937, in Leavenworth, Kansas, the son of Gilbert E. and Frieda O. (Stroh) Fulk.
On Aug. 25, 1957, Gilbert married Janet L. Matthews in Leavenworth. She preceded him in death in October of 2004. He was also preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Virginia Allman and Carolee Lord.
Gilbert is survived by three children, Maura (Greg) Shy, Connie (Mike) Sims and Gilbert “John” Fulk Jr.; a sister, Darlene Baker, San Antonio, Texas; four grandchildren, Stacey (Mike) Laws, Trey (Amy) Smith, Nicole Sims, Jacob Sims; four great-grandchildren; and all of his nieces and nephews that knew him as Uncle “Bud”.    
Gilbert served in the U.S. Army Reserve from 1958 to 1962.
He retired from Trans World Airlines “TWA” with 38 years of service as a Jet Engine Inspector. After retirement from TWA, Gilbert worked as a Golf Marshal at Trails West Golf Course in Ft. Leavenworth, Kansas, for 15 years.  
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, volunteered at Trinity House and lived his life by his Christian values.  Gilbert was devoted to his family, cherished his many friendships, and will be missed by all that knew him.  The family extends their sincere thanks to Leavenworth Davita for their loving care and professionalism.  
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 28, 2019, at the R.L. Leintz Funeral Home. A funeral service will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 29, 2019, at Trinity Lutheran Church, with Pastor Damian Snyder officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorials to Trinity Lutheran Church, National Kidney Foundation or the donor’s choice.
