Jennifer Anna Rodriguez, 39, Leavenworth, died on May 26, 2019, surrounded by her family. Born on June 18, 1979 in Fort Campbell, Kentucky, she and her family moved to Lansing in 1986. A 1998 graduate of Lansing High School, Jennifer followed in the footsteps of her parents, attending Wichita State University. While there, she became an early member of the Alpha Alpha chapter of Kappa Delta Chi sorority. After graduating in 2003, Jennifer began a promising career in law enforcement, serving on the staffs of the Lansing Correctional Facility and Leavenworth County Jail. Following a spinal cord injury, she would serve again as a dispatcher for the Leavenworth Police Department.
In recent years, she became a fixture at the Leavenworth Farmers Market, gaining renown as a soapmaker and pet treat baker. Jennifer was also a passionate champion for domestic violence prevention, disability rights, and animal welfare. In 2015, she proudly advocated with members of Congress, participating in the United Spinal Association Roll on Capitol Hill.
Jennifer is survived by her mother, Ann Crum, her father and stepmother, Ismael Rodriguez and Sandra Lopez, her brothers, Ismael Rodriguez and Miguel Rodriguez, sister-in-law, Rosalynda Uy, niece, Soledad Rodriguez, nephews, Eli Rodriguez and Lake Rodriguez and close extended family James and Lin Crum, Theresa Hermanny and Sebastian Campbell.
She is preceded in death by her stepfather, Jim Crum.
Visitation will take place from 6-8 p.m., Friday, May 31, 2019 at Davis Funeral Chapel. A celebration of Life will take place at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 1, 2019 at First Christian Church of Leavenworth. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Leavenworth County Humane Society.
