Jerry J. Everett, 93, Leavenworth passed away on June 1, 2019 at the Medicalodge of Leavenworth.
He was born on March 3, 1926 in Simmons, Texas to Bruce H. and Jeanie T. (Cockrell) Everett.  He grew up in Kansas, California and Oregon, and attended high school in Gaston, Oregon. He attended the University of Arkansas, in Fayetteville, Arkansas with a BSM degree. He served in the U.S. Army in 1945.
He also attended the University of Arkansas and graduated in 1950 with an M.D. degree. He interned at Baltimore City Hospitals in Baltimore, Maryland. He served his residency in Radiology at Kansas City, Missouri. Dr. Everett was Certified as a Diplomate of the American Board of Radiology in 1954.
He was in the private practice in Radiology in Savannah, Georgia and Brownwood, Texas until 1969 when he was employed by the Veteran’s Administration in Leavenworth, Kansas. He retired from this agency as Chief of Radiology in November 1990. He continued semi-retired, working as a locum tenens in Texas and Arkansas until August 1996.
He was married in May 1950 to Mary Lou Binz who died in August 1982. One son, Jerry J. (Karla) Everett Jr., was born in 1952 and resides in California.  Daughter, Elizabeth Ann was born in 1955 is deceased in 1985 and there is one granddaughter, Amber Klassen.  Jerry Sr., remarried in 1985 to Dolores Henchek, widow of James Henchek, and he has two stepsons, Christopher (Brenda) Henchek, Overland Park, Kansas and Michael (Paulette) Henchek, Easton Kansas, nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be on Friday, June 14, 2019 at the funeral home 6– 8 p.m. A funeral service will be on Saturday, June 15, 2019 at the funeral home at 10 a.m. with Fr David McEvoy, O.Carm officiating.  Burial with military honors will follow at Mt. Calvary cemetery.
