Scott William Edwards, 58, went home to be with the Lord on July 23, 2019, after battling cancer. He was at Providence Medical Center and was comforted by his wife and son.
Scott was born May 23, 1961, in Leavenworth and graduated from Leavenworth High School in 1979. He then attended Pittsburg State University where he was commissioned into the Army through ROTC. He returned to Leavenworth and joined the Kansas Army National Guard so he could continue to serve in his beloved Field Artillery. Scott retired from the service as a Captain in 2002. He worked at Heatron, a manufacturing company producing heating elements, where he served in various positions over his 25-year career. He then made a career change, becoming a Certified Medical Assistant/X-Ray Technician and was last employed by the Providence Medical Group Orthopedics Team.
He is survived by his wife, Tanja, Leavenworth; son, Ryan (Katy), his beloved grandchildren, Nolan and Nora, Lees Summit, Missouri; Cyndi Peters, (Ryan’s mother), Lansing, Kansas; his parents, David and Marilyn Edwards, Leavenworth; his brother, Alan (Kathy), Leavenworth and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. Scott loved having fun with his family. He will be greatly missed.
Visitation will be 6‒8 p.m., Wednesday, July 31, 2019, at First Baptist Church, 340 N 13th, Leavenworth. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m., Thursday, August 1, 2019, at the church. Inurnment will follow at the Leavenworth National Cemetery.
