Rodney Charles Day, 72, Leavenworth, died Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2019, at his home after a longtime illness.

Rodney Charles Day, 72, Leavenworth, died Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2019, at his home after a longtime illness. He was born Nov. 5, 1946, in Hastings, Nebraska, the son of Everett and Vera (Land) Day.
On Oct. 7, 1982, Rodney married Debbie Day in Las Vegas, Nevada. She survives at the home. He is also survived by three children, Chase Day, Rodney Collins and Carrie Lynn; a brother, Larry (Pat) Day, Leavenworth; a sister and brother-in-law, Donna and Jaime Patroske; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews that he loved very much; and many lifelong friends.
Rodney was preceded in death by his parents and two siblings, Mary Ann Schuler and George Day.
He was proud to have served in the United States Army. Rodney retired in 2016 from the Defense Logistics Agency at Fort Leavenworth after 31 years of service.Rodney was an avid golfer. He also enjoyed cheering on the Kansas Jayhawks, Kansas City Chiefs and Royals, and morel mushroom hunting in the spring. He loved his dogs, Abby and Missy, as well as Reecie, Nike, Sophie, Maggie and Lexi.
He was an amazing husband and father. Rodney always put others first and he will truly be missed.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Aug. 10, 2019, at the R.L. Leintz Funeral Home. A funeral service will begin at noon Saturday, at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Leavenworth County Humane Society.
