Ian John Kowalewski, 35, of Leavenworth, passed from this earth, Aug. 8, 2019, surrounded by family and friends. He was born May 29, 1984, in Kansas City, Kansas, to Thomas and Sandra (Lake) Kowalewski.
Ian was a friend to many. He lived his life with laughter and compassion and will be missed by everyone who knew him. As a longtime employee of Zeck Ford, he made lasting connections that are a testament to how great of a person he was. Words cannot express how much he will be missed, but not forgotten. His love for family, cars, animals, movies and music will be a comfort in the years ahead.
As an organ donor, Ian has already and will continue to help countless people by providing the gift of a better quality of life.
He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Donald and Joann (Guenther) Kowalewski; maternal grandparents, Harley and Catherine (Panek) Lake; three uncles, Roy John Lake, Mark Simanowitz and Chuck Burkes; and two aunts, Melissa Lake and Frannie Lake
Ian leaves behind his parents; his much-loved younger sister, Hannah Kowalewski; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
A celebration of life will begin at 4 p.m. Friday, Aug. 30, 2019, at the R.L. Leintz Funeral Home. Memorial contributions in Ian’s name may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Leavenworth County Humane Society.
