Kenneth Wayne Buchanan, 69, fondly known as “Buck”, died Sept. 15, 2019, at KU Medical Center.

Kenneth Wayne Buchanan, 69, fondly known as “Buck”, died Sept. 15, 2019, at KU Medical Center. He was born Oct. 25, 1949, at Cushing Memorial Hospital in Leavenworth, the son of James Chester Buchanan, Jr. and Betty Lee Beam Buchanan.
He was a life-long resident of Leavenworth and Lansing.
Buck graduated eighth grade from the one room school in Fairmont, Kansas in 1963. He graduated from Lansing High School in 1967.
On Sept. 3, 1977, he married to Lee Ann Harris. Together they had one daughter, Erica.  
On Dec. 6, 1985, Buck married Jody Lemke. She preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his parents and his grandparents, Kenneth and Mildred Beam and James Chester Buchanan, Sr.
He is survived by his daughter, Erica (Carol) Buchanan, Haslett, Michigan; four stepchildren, Julie, Jennifer, Jason and Joel; a brother, Jim (Starla) Buchanan, Fort Myers, Florida; a niece, Michelle (Curt) Wehr, Greensburg, Indiana; a nephew, Travis (Sarah) Buchanan, Eminence, Kentucky; four great nephews, Ethan and Carter Wehr and Myles and Grant Buchanan; one great niece, Heidi Buchanan; and a host of friends including Tina Hough, Randy Elliott and Eddie McClure.
He was a member of the Fairmont United Methodist Church. Buck worked in farming most of his life. He managed J & N Farms for many years until an injury forced him to quit. When he wasn’t working, he was a fun-loving guy that loved to party and socialize with his many friends.
A Celebration of Life will begin at 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, 2019, at the Chatterbox in Leavenworth. Burial will be at a later date at Kickapoo Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the Jim Buchanan family to help cover expenses.
