Kenneth "Joe" Wishon, Weston, Missouri, passed away on Sept. 24, 2019 after a life full of love and laughter, looking toward an afterlife of even more LOVE and endless laughter.
Joe was born March 30, 1955 to Ken and Jackie Wishon. He spent a childhood enjoying the occasional bath in the sand at his grandparents home in Osceola, Missouri.  Throughout his childhood he loved to play baseball and ride motorcycles with his dad and brother.
After high school, Joe enlisted in the United States Navy and was a proud SeaBee stationed around the world from Mississippi to Diego Garcia. While in the Navy, Joe became a father, and decided to move back stateside to raise his family. Settling just north of Kansas City in Weston, Missouri and continued in service to this country with the Dept. of Veteran's Affairs. In his role at the VA, Joe found his professional purpose - leading groups of veterans through their addiction struggles and mental health concerns and helping people get back on their feet as a citizen. He was passionate about this work and it shows. He helped to create Stand-Down a benefit for the homeless citizens of the Kansas City area. He also formed a years long partnership between the VA in Leavenworth and the Noyes Home in St. Joseph, encouraging his residents to adopt a child or family in foster care for Christmas and bringing everyone together for a BIG Christmas party where he would dress as Santa Claus and light up the room with the joy in his eyes. Giving back to others was what gave him purpose, and he brought that passion home and ensured his children went into the world with a spirit of giving.
Kenny Joe is being greeted in heaven by his mother, Jackie Wishon, his aunt Dorthy, uncle Bill, grandparents and many other uncles and aunts. Missing him on earth are all of us who knew his heart and were touched by his kindness: Pat, Ken, Kimberly, Joseph, Mark, Kim, Matt, Victoria, Al, Robert, Sarah, Jesi, Emy, Robbie, Ethan, and MANY MANY more.
