Billie Jean Evans-Carter, 90, Leavenworth, Kansas passed away on Oct. 13, 2019 at St. Luke’s Hospice House in Kansas City, Missouri.
Billie was born on May 3, 1929 in Jacksboro, Texas to Bill and Irene Evans. On May 26, 1947 Billie and Joe Carter were married in Jacksboro, Texas. She was employed by JC Penney’s for many years. She and Joe moved to Leavenworth, Kansas in 1976. She was a member of Leavenworth Baptist Church and taught Sunday school for 39 years. She was a very social person and loved belonging to the Cushing Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and Red Hats Club.
She was predeceased by her husband, Joe Carter, after 37 years of marriage. She was also predeceased by her parents, sister and brother-in-law, Sue and Tom Shiflet, and her niece, Susan Long.
She is survived by her niece and husband, Jean and Chris Parrott and many great and great-great nieces and nephews, and special friends
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Leavenworth Baptist Church or the American Cancer Society.
A special “Thank You” to everyone who helped make Billie’s life comfortable and enjoyable over the years.
Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 17, 2019 at Davis Funeral Chapel. Funeral service will be 2 p.m., Friday, Oct. 18, 2019 at Leavenworth Baptist Church, 746 Spruce Street, Leavenworth. Burial will be 2 p.m., Monday, Oct. 21, 2019, Woodland Park Cemetery, Mineral Wells, Texas. Arrangements entrusted to Davis Funeral Chapel.
