Claude Frank Collins “Pat”, 82, beloved husband and father, passed away peacefully on Dec. 26, 2019 at his home surrounded by Jesus and family in Leavenworth, Kansas. Claude was born on Dec. 16, 1937 in Traverse City, Michigan, the son of Claude Elton and Elizabeth Harriett (Dean) Collins.
After his mother passed, Claude joined the army and while stationed at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas met his wife of 54 years, Doris Mae Raney. She preceded him in death in 2014.
Claude and Doris owned and operated Doris’ Market for over 35 years. After settling down in Leavenworth, Kansas, Claude was active with the Eagles, Elks and on various bowling leagues. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. He enjoyed playing cards with family and friends. He enjoyed playing pranks even more. Until the end, Claude was still making jokes. Claude and Doris had two children: Robin Crim (Kevin), DeBary, Florida; and Claude Collins II (Julie), Topeka, Kansas. Claude also has two stepchildren with Doris, Debra Lakin (Jeff), San Antonio, Texas; and Mike McDonald, Leavenworth, Kansas.
Claude then remarried in 2019 to long time family friend, Heidemarie Lach, who survives at the home. Claude also has three stepchildren with Heidemarie, Christopher, Timothy, and Jenny.
Claude is also survived by 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Bobbi Buckner (Jack), sister-in-law, was like a true sister to Claude. They became especially close over the last few years.
