David William Jones, Sr., aka Bill Jones, 94, passed away Feb. 10, 2020 at Twin Oaks Assisted Living in Lansing, Kansas.
David William Jones, Sr., aka Bill Jones, 94, passed away Feb. 10, 2020 at Twin Oaks Assisted Living in Lansing, Kansas. He was born June 26, 1925 in Clarence, Missouri, to Orva E and Roberta Jones. He grew up in Macon, Missouri and married his wife, Catherine V. Martin on Nov. 7, 1942. He joined the United States Navy in 1942. After serving in World War II, he joined the Army and retired in 1965 while continuing to work for the government until 1987. He was a cobbler by trade, an active member of the American Legion and Fraternal Order of Eagles and held many positions including Commander for the V.F.W.
He loved his family; and enjoyed camping, fishing, and spending time with family and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine and daughters, Linda Jean Murawski and Billie Kay Kerslake and great-granddaughter, Sarah Marie Caldera. He is survived by siblings, Robert E. Jones, California and Patricia Day, Arizona, and sons; David W. Jones, Jr. and wife Maggie, Robert D. Jones and wife Janet, and all 11 granddaughters and many great and great-great-grandchildren.

Friends and family are welcome to join us at Davis Funeral Chapel for a visitation on Monday, Feb. 17, 2020 at 9 a.m. and funeral service at 10 a.m. followed by burial service.
