Charles (Flash) Baker passed from this world on April 4, 2020, surrounded by his family. He was born in Weston, Missouri, on Dec. 17, 1922, to George and Margaret Baker.


He attended Rockhurst University in Kansas City, Missouri, served in the United States Army Air Forces during World War II, worked at the Leavenworth, Kansas Veterans Administration Hospital; Meyers Dairy in Basehor, Kansas; and Cushing Hospital in Leavenworth.


He is survived by his wife, June, of 68 years, daughters, Susan and Nancy, son, Michael, four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.


An avid sports fan and swimmer, he watched the Kansas City Royals win two World Series, the Kansas City Chiefs win two Super Bowls, the Kansas Jayhawk Basketball team win multiple conference championships, and enough laps in the pool to cross the English Channel twice.


Restrictions due to the corona virus, a private Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, April 14, 2020 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Fr. Marianand Mendem, officiating. There will be no public attendance or visitation. Burial will be at Mr. Calvary cemetery. A celebration of life service will be held at a future date.
