Daniel “Dan” Gene Kell, 65, Leavenworth, Kansas died April 26, 2020 at the Saint Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri. He was born May 26, 1954 the son of Hershel Osburn and Frances Mary Lada Kell.
He graduated from Leavenworth High School in 1972 and attended Highland Community College receiving an associate’s degree. He worked at the United States Federal Penitentiary in Leavenworth for a combined 20 years, retiring in 2009. He also owned and operated Dan Kell Plumbing for many years.
He married Roxann Marie Dodd on Aug. 17, 1974 in Leavenworth, she survives of the home. Other survivors include two daughters, Dana Rae (Damian) Auffert, Parnell, Missouri, and Sarah (Brett) Herrman, Colwich, Kansas, and one son, Brett Daniel (Adrienne) Kell, Topeka, one brother, Hershel Kell, Overland Park and a sister, Kay Lawrence, Leavenworth, six grandchildren, Dalton, Dakota, and Dalanie Auffert, Chase and Reagan Kell, and Caiden Herrman.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Carol Finley.
Graveside interment is planned for 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 6, 2020 at the Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Lansing, Kansas. Visitation is planned for 3 – 7 p.m. on Tuesday May 5, 2020 at the Barnett Family Funeral Home in Oskaloosa. Memorial donations may be made to the Leavenworth County 4-H Foundation or to the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.
