On Sunday, May 3, 2020, Nancy Marie Smith, loving mother of two children, went home to be with our Heavenly Father, at the age of 73.


Nancy was born on Sept. 10, 1946 in St. Louis, Missouri, she was the eldest daughter of the late Alvin and Martha (Darr) Giewald. She grew up in St. Louis, was a 1964 graduate of Lutheran High School South and received a B.A. in education from Central Missouri State University.


She was a beloved elementary school teacher, with a career spanning over 40 years. After her retirement, she found a renewed passion for education, working as a substitute teacher at Lansing Elementary School.


Nancy was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. Her favorite color was red and she was a Leukemia warrior. She enjoyed baking, gardening and traveling. Above all, she loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and spending time with her family. Her heart was always full of so much love, and her joy for life was felt by all. Those who knew her will miss her tremendously.


Nancy is survived by her son, Timothy Smith; her daughter, Alison Smith; her sisters, Judy (Daniel) Lochner, Janet (Dennis) Schrader; a grandson, Alexander Jordan; many cherished nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.


Family will receive visitors Thursday, May 7, 2020 from 5-7 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church. A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 8, 2020 at 10 a.m. at the Church; with burial at Mt. Muncie Cemetery following the service.
