Lambert D. Mills, 87, a resident of Sacramento, California, passed away on Saturday, June 27, 2020 at his home. He was born on July 29, 1932 in Leavenworth, Kansas, a son of the late William and Helen (Lambert) Mills. Lambert was raised in rural Leavenworth County and attended schools in the Lansing School District. He graduated from Lansing High School with the class of 1950.


He was a member of the Air Force ROTC while attending Kansas State University, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture in 1954. He served in the United States Air Force after graduation.


On Aug. 9, 1953, he married Rosalea Edmonds, and together they had five children. He is remembered as a past-president of Citizens Mutual Savings and Loan Assn. While living in Leavenworth, he was a member of the Lansing United Methodist Church and was a member and past-president of the Leavenworth Kiwanis Club. He served on the board of directors of Cushing Memorial Hospital, the Lansing United Methodist Church, and Citizens Mutual Savings and Loan Assn. He was also involved in many local organizations, including the Lansing Alumni Assn, the Lions Club, the Fairmont 4-H Club, and the Leavenworth Jaycees.


Preceding him in death were his parents and his two sisters, Emma Jeanne (James) Liggett and Willa Deanne (Merle) Eyestone.


Surviving are his children, Cindy (Mike) Blake, Lake Linden, Michigan, Toni Milleret, Charlotte, North Carolina, Julie (Pete) Schrock, Summit, New Jersey, Alan (Julia) Mills, Tampa, Florida, and Tricia (Vito) Brancatella, Mendham, New Jersey; his grandchildren, Erik Herzog, Alan Kroll, Cindy Crabtree, Whit Crabtree, Abi (Tim) Rowatt, Kyle (Gocia) Milleret, Jessica Schrock, Allie Mills, Tori Mills, Christie Bennett, CJ Bennett, Manny Rettig, Vito Brancatella, III, Nicholas Brancatella, Jenna Brancatella and Ava Brancatella; and his three great-grandchildren, Rush Herzog, Cruz Herzog, and Dawson Virtanen. He also has many surviving cousins, nieces and nephews.


A private graveside service for Lambert at Mt. Muncie Cemetery will be scheduled for a later date.
