Joyce Marie Brantley Humphrey entered the Kingdom of heaven on Sunday June 28, 2020 peacefully surrounded by loved ones.
Joyce was born Aug. 15, 1949 in Rocky Mount, North Carolina to parents Woodrow and Margaret Brantley who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by husband of 43 years Ronald Humphrey, and sister Rachel Canny.
Joyce married Ronald William Humphrey Aug. 18, 1972 whom she met at Lakeview Baptist Church while attending Baptist Bible College in Springfield, Missouri. She is survived by Ronald W. Humphrey Jr, wife Nicole, Atchison, Kansas, Michelle H. James and Jeff James, Olathe, Kansas, Michael Humphrey, wife Staci, Dayton, Ohio, Alicia Humphrey, Olathe, Kansas, Erick Humphrey, Olathe, Kansas, Justin Humphrey, wife Monica, Burlington, Kansas, Brittany H. Lawrence, husband Ryan, San Antonio. She is also survived by 19 grandchildren that adored their grandmother, three sisters, one brother, and a very large extended family.
Joyce worked various jobs through her early years including as a waitress, keypunch operator, and various ministerial positions. She performed with a female Trio, The Treble-Aires and after losing a member Ron began singing with them.
After their marriage Joyce and Ron started their family, serving as youth and music directors in various churches for many years. Her gift from the Lord was following the footsteps of David, bringing the word of God to life through song. She had a beautiful, powerful, angelic voice, and passed on her passion for music and faith to her children. The family spent many years traveling to churches, nursing homes, and other places performing concerts and blessing thousands. She was never afraid to share the gospel of Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior.
Joyce was a fierce protector, strongly opinionated, an amazing listener, devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Infamously beloved for her brutally honest family Christmas letters and jokingly referred to herself as a prophet.
Due to restrictions a private graveside services will be held for family on July 17, 2020 at Sunset Memory Gardens. A Memorial service for Joyce is being planned for family and friends on Aug 15, 2020 at Wallula Christian.
