Jean Marie Redford passed away peacefully on Oct. 14, 2020. She was born Dec. 8, 1927 to Edward M. and Agnes (Schrick) Forge and was a lifetime Leavenworth resident. She attended Coffin School in Kickapoo and Leavenworth High School. On Sept. 14, 1944 she married Melvin R. Redford Sr.

Jean was a cook at Salt Creek Valley School and later at Eisenhower School at Fort Leavenworth. First and foremost, she was a devoted homemaker, wife, mom, grandma, and great-grandma. She treasured her family and friends and enjoyed spending time with them. Her grandchildren looked forward to holidays at grandma’s house and enjoyed sharing her lovingly prepared dinners. She was famous for her delicious pies.

Steadfast in her faith, she was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and most recently her son, Larry, who passed away in August. She is survived by her four sons: Bob, Leavenworth, Ron (Carolyn), Derby, Kansas; Mark (Joni), Papillion, Nebraska; and Mike (Claudette), Platte City; her daughter, Pat (Herb) Nye, Lenexa; and her daughter-in-law, Rosemary Redford, Leavenworth. She is also survived by her brother, Eddie Forge, Leavenworth, and sisters, Dee Heintzelman, Leavenworth and Dar Kleypus, Kansas City, Missouri. She has 21 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren and counting! She will be fondly remembered and greatly missed.
