Col. (ret) John Patrick "Pat" O'Reagan, Sr.
Leavenworth - After of full life of 100 years Pat O'Reagan of Leavenworth, KS completed his final mission peacefully on August 19, 2021, surrounded by his family. Pat was born in Parsons, Kansas to Michael R. O'Reagan and Rosa J. Kennedy O'Reagan. He was the oldest of four sons. He graduated from St. Peter's High School in Joplin, Mo. After moving to Washington, D.C. he enlisted in the Army Air Corps as a pilot. After WWII he completed his bachelor's degree at Georgetown University. He later earned a master's degree from USC attending night classes while stationed at Rhein-Main AFB,
Following service in the European theater in WWII he married Kathlyn E. Erwin October 14, 1944. He served through the Korean War and the Viet Nam War. He moved with his family of six children to numerous stations across the globe, including 3 assignments at Ft. Leavenworth. He retired in 1972, in Leavenworth, after 30 years of decorated service. He worked for International Services Agency and as a licensed private investigator for Lathrop and Gage Law Firm. Pat enjoyed golf, especially the nineteenth hole, music with occasional drumming, singing, whistling, and dancing but mostly his family and friends. He was a charter member of the "Old Bastard's Club" of Leavenworth. He had a soft spot for children and animals supporting numerous related charitable organizations.
Pat is survived by his brother Robert T. O'Reagan of Alexandria, VA, children Julie O'Reagan Kansas City, MO, Eileen Nistetter (Jay) Glendale, AZ, Terence "Terry" O'Reagan, Kansas City, MO, Margaret "Peggy" O'Reagan-Salva (Gary), Olathe, KS, Timothy "Tim" O'Reagan, Minneapolis, MN, grandchildren: John Salva, Jennifer Salva, Erin Salva, and great granddaughter, Isabella Salva, all of Olathe, KS, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Kathlyn (Kitty/Lovens), son John Patrick, O'Reagan, Jr., brothers "Jimmy" in infancy, and Michael (Bud) O'Reagan.
Visitation will be held August 26, 6:00-8:00p.m. at Davis Funeral Chapel 531 Shawnee St, Leavenworth, KS. Funeral Mass will be August 27, at 11:00 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church: 1401 2nd Ave Leavenworth, KS followed by a graveside service with military honors at Ft. Leavenworth National Cemetery.
