Michael David Penman

Michael David Penman died September 6, 2021 after suffering his fifth heart attack on July 22nd. Michael was the oldest son of William and Gloria Penman, and the son in law of Frank and Margaret Thompson, born on February 5, 1956 in Memphis, Tennessee. He spent his childhood in Wilmington, North Carolina, his father in the Coast Guard and stationed near Cape Hatteras. After moving to Leavenworth, Michael attended Leavenworth High with the class of '74. Enlisted in the Army and received a commendation for the nuclear clean up of Three Mile Island, all without protective gear. In 1983 he married the love of his life Nancy J. Thompson. They have two children Matthew and Laura and granddaughter Pandora. Mike worked for the Kansas Department of Transportation and his last job was managing the cigarette side of Robert's Liquor in Lansing. Michael is survived by his brother Rick and wife Donna McCoy, Tim and wife Debbie, Jamie and nieces and nephews.

Cremation was conducted by Kansas City Funeral Directors in Shawnee. He will be buried at the Leavenworth National Cemetery after services on October 18. Theresa Williams is conducting the service.
