John Howard Tullis

McLouth - John Howard Tullis, 93, of McLouth, KS passed away Saturday, September 25, 2021 at the Lansing Care & Rehab Center. He was born October 15, 1927, the son of James Robert and Dora Amelia Heinen Tullis. John graduated from Leavenworth High School in 1945. After graduating, he joined the Merchant Marines and served for two years. He was self-employed, logging, farming, and bulldozing for 65+ years. He was the hardest working man we've ever known. He worked sunup to sundown. He married Mary Lou Farrell on June 21, 1950 at the St. Joseph of the Valley Church in Easton, KS. The celebrated their 71 year anniversary in June. She survives of the home, other survivors include one son Mike (Debbie) Tullis, McLouth, and three daughters, Sylvia (Dennie) Steffen, Leavenworth, Linda (Dale) Duncan, McLouth, and Peggy Tullis (Heim), Leavenworth.10 Grandchildren and 20 Great-Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sons, John F. (Bud) Tullis, Infant son Bobby Tullis and granddaughter Shelbee Heim. Five brothers, Harry, Vernon, Leonard, Charles & Robert, one sister Stella Luse.

Services will be 11:00AM Saturday, October 2, 2021 at the Barnett Family Funeral Home in Oskaloosa. Visitation will be 10-11AM prior to services. Inurnment will be at the McLouth Cemetery. Memorial may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society Mid America Chapter and local hospice.
