James Timothy Rooney

James "Jim" Rooney died at his home October 21, 2021, of natural causes. He was born December 3, 1956, in St. Louis, MO, the son of Ralph "Patrick" Rooney and Iris (Zager) Rooney. Jim graduated from Roosevelt High School in St. Louis in 1975 and followed with a B.A. in Political Science from University of Missouri while participating in the Army ROTC program. Following graduation, he was commissioned in the U.S. Army where he served his country with pride. His service continued as he worked at Ft. Leavenworth as a contractor supporting the military for over thirty years; his last employer being Northrop Grumman. Jim married Rebecca Johnson on December 14, 1991, and they settled in Weston, MO with her sons Christopher and Michael. Jim was a man very involved in his community and was a loyal member to many organizations dear to his heart. He was a member of the local American Legion Post 501, the Knights of Columbus of Holy Trinity Catholic Church of Weston. He was also the Chairman of the Platte County Republican Central Committee as well as being on the Missouri Republican State Committee. He dedicated much of his time to this country and his community, and his love for both was evidenced in all he did. In addition to his parents, Jim was predeceased by his nephew, James Patrick Trokey. In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons Michael (Aaron) and Christopher (Chris), and siblings Robert (Mary Ann) Rooney, Mary Rooney, Loretta Rooney, Kathy (Kevin) Rooney-Hokeson, Barbara (Dan) Karis, Eric (Patricia) Johnson and many beloved nieces and nephews. Visitation will be at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church 407 Cherry Street, Weston, MO between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Wednesday, October 27. Mass of the Resurrection will be held Thursday, October 28 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Trinity Church with Father Steven Rogers officiating. Following the Mass, burial will be at the Leavenworth National Cemetery, 150 Muncie Road. Those who wish to remember Jim in a special way may make gifts in his memory to the Knights of Columbus in Weston, Holy Trinity Catholic Church, the American Legion Post 501, Tunnels to Towers Foundation, or the Wounded Warrior Project.
