Donald Lee Giese

Lansing - Donald Lee Giese, 92, of Lansing, died Sunday, Nov. 21, 2021. He was born May 13, 1929, in Leavenworth, to John P. and Marie (Werner) Giese.

He attended Old Cathedral Grade School, Immaculata High School and St. Benedict College.

On December 16, 1950, Donald married Mary Agnes Duffin at Old Cathedral Catholic Church.

Don and Agnes had four children, Donna (Phil) Nolan, Mary Kay (Richard) Powers, Joanne Giese and Dr. John Giese.

He went to work for B.F Goodrich and Feller Kitchen Store. In 1953, Don went to Besel Roofing and Heating. He became President of the company and retired from that position in 1994 and continued working part time until 2015.

Don is survived by his wife, Agnes; daughters, Donna (Phil) Nolan and Mary Kay (Richard) Powers; grandchildren, Lisa (Weston) Tanner, Courtney (Andrew) Coffman and Ashley (Will) Gorden; great-grandchildren, Nolan, Miles and Welles Tanner, Alli, Cole and Alayna Coffman and Foxx and Poppy Lee Gorden; sister, Helen Navinsky; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two children, Joanne Giese and Dr. John Giese; son-in-law, Richard Powers; sister, Charlotte Guenther; and two brothers, Buddy and Ray Giese.

The rosary will be prayed at 10:00 a.m. followed by a memorial mass at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 26, 2021, at Sacred Heart Church, with Rev. David McEvoy, O.Carm., as celebrant. A private burial will be at a later date at Mount Calvary cemetery. The family suggests memorials to Sacred Heart Church, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation or a memorial of your choice.
