Karen is survived by her daughter, Sheila Vogel, a stepson, Eldon Vogel, her brother, William P. Abbott, five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, as well as many close friends and family. She is preceded in death by her brother, Virgil Lupton, and husband, Herman Vogel.
Karen was born to Don Abbott and Marie Todd on Jan. 21, 1941, in Leavenworth, Kansas. She graduated from Leavenworth High School in 1962. She was married to Herman Vogel in 1962. They had one daughter, Sheila Vogel. She began working for Southwestern Bell Telephone (AT&T) in 1971 and retired in 2001 with 30 years of service. She began as a repair operator and at the time of her retirement she was a computer technician.
In her retirement, she loved being a winter Texan in the Rio Grand Valley, spending time with her grandchildren and doing the hobby she loved so much, which was antiquing for her booth at the antique mall in Leavenworth.
During her sudden illness, she and her loyal companion Breezy (a Jack Russell terrier that was 16 years old) went to eternal Heaven as well. Any memorial contributions can be sent to 40 Days for 4 Life in her name.
