Betty J. Jones, 82, passed away at St. John Hospital on Jan. 15, 2021. Betty was born in Tracy, Missouri, July 6, 1938. She worked in the laundry field at Bell Laundry, St. Mary and Ramada Inn. She opened a home day care, and all the children knew her as “Nanny.”
Betty lived in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Copperas Cove, Texas, then back to Leavenworth in 1970 to make this area her home.
Betty was proceeded in death by her mother, Birdie L. Koon, Leavenworth, Kansas, and two sisters, Darlene Cline, Farley, Missouri, and Ruth Rands, Rockford, Illinois, and granddaughter, Amanda Alexander-Rodgers, Orlando, Florida.
Betty had two daughters, Debbie James and Linda Surber, and a son, Mike (Carrie) Jones, all of Leavenworth, grandchildren, Bobby Miller, John Surber and Samantha Jones, great-grandchildren, Kalvin, Anthony, KayLynn, Aaliyah, Armani, Kaviko and Alexander, extended family in Peralta, New Mexico, and Rockford, Illinois.
Betty was loved by all who met her. She will be deeply missed for years to follow. As per her request, no services are planned. R.L. Leintz Funeral Home is in charge of her cremation.
