Will still host playoff game
The Lansing Lions may have fallen Friday night in the regular season football finale, but they still have the luxury of opening the Class 5A playoff next week at home.
Bonner Springs rallied from a 7-0 deficit for 21 unanswered points over the game’s final 16 minutes to defeat the Lions 21-7 as both prepare for the playoffs.
The official brackets will be released Saturday so check back at www.leavenworthtimes.com/sports or read the Leavenworth Times on Tuesday.
Quinton McQuillan scored the only Lansing (4-4) touchdown as the Lions appear to be set for as high as a No. 6 seed to no lower than the No. 8 spot.
Lansing could play Bonner Springs again next week.
“I am proud of our guys and how we played defensively, but we need to score more points,” Lansing head coach John McCall said. “Everyone knows that you don’’t win a lot of games when you have seven points on the board. We need a break here, a break there, because the kids are playing so hard.
“We’re just going to have to get more production and get the ball in the end zone, it’s that simple.”
