Pleasant Ridge volleyball went 2-0 in their Tuesday night games against Horton and Valley Falls.
In the first game against Horton, the Rams won in two sets 25-16 and 25-20.
“It was never a close game,” coach Joy Ewert said. “But we did not play with any energy. We just went through the motions and were glad to pull out the win. I think the girls were just waiting to get to Valley Falls and almost looked past Horton.”
Against Valley Falls, the Rams continued the success from the first game and also won in two sets.
“We came out with so much intensity and energy and really jumped on Valley from the beginning,” Ewert said. “At one point the score was 13-4 before Valley went on a little run in the first set. The girls were hungry for a win over Valley and they knew this year was it. We are playing with so much more confidence then we did last week. Our hits were not the best, but we were able to get a few good hits off their blocks. I think our biggest momentum plays came off of blocking them. We had quite a few stuffs that really deflated Valley’s offense. Julie Miller and Felicity Worsham are our middle blockers that really made Valley Falls change their offensive plans.”
The Rams improved to 3-1 on the season. They will travel to Seneca on Saturday for the Nemaha Central Tournament.
