The Leavenworth Pioneers bowling team traveled to Washburn for their regional on Friday.
The boys’ team finished fourth with a score of 2,960, just 17 points off of Washburn Rural which would have been qualification for the whole team. The Pioneers will send William Ayers and Tristan Smith to the state tournament this Friday at Northrock Lanes in Wichita.
Ayers finished the day with a high series of 620. Smith scored 579, Nick Hawley scored 541, Nathaniel Rolon had 520, Michael Hoover scored 503 and Ty Richards scored 479.
On the girls’ side, the Pioneers scored 2,104 to finish 11th.
Margaret Collins led the Pioneers with 447.
Chloe Herring scored 403, Clare Langfoss and Reanna Lucas each scored 366, Rayven Robertson had 270 and Hailey Corbin scored 238.
Ayers and Smith will compete at the 6A state tournament this Friday. Competition is scheduled to begin at 1:40 p.m.
Friday night wrapped up the regular season in high school basketball. Leavenworth traveled to Basehor-Linwood with the two schools splitting the games.

Pleasant Ridge traveled to Jefferson County North where the girls’ team won 43-41 in overtime.
The Rams jumped out 15-6 after the first quarter and led 22-16 at halftime.
The Rams still led after three, but the Chargers cut the lead to 32-28. The score would be tied 41-41 at the end of four quarters to send the game into overtime. The Rams added two points in the extra period and won.
Julie Miller led the Pioneers with 18 points. Lindsey Heim scored 11.
The Rams finished the regular season as the Northeast Kansas League champions with an 18-2 record overall and 15-1 in league play.
The boys’ game also went into overtime, but the Chargers prevailed in this one 68-61.
The Rams jumped out 20-17 after the first quarter before the Chargers took a 32-29 halftime lead.
The Chargers extended the lead to 47-43 after three quarters before the Rams went on a run to lead by five with under two minutes to play. The team outscored the Chargers 16-12 but a last-second 3-pointer by the Chargers tied the game at 59 at the end of regulation.
The Rams could only get one field goal in the extra period compared to nine from the Chargers. Jamar Reed led the Rams with 20 points. Justin Johnston scored 15 and Connor Gibson had 12.
Pleasant Ridge finished the regular season 9-11 and 7-9 in league play.
The Rams began sub-state on Monday night on the girls’ side hosting Riverside.
The boys play on Tuesday at Nemaha Central. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
Lansing hosted Shawnee Heights Friday to wrap the regular season up. In the girls’ game, the Lions fell 51-49. The Thunderbirds led 9-6 after the first quarter and 21-19 at halftime. Shawnee Heights held onto a 35-34 lead after three quarters before holding on to win 51-49. Lansing finishes the regular season 9-11.
In the boys’ game, the two teams were tied 7-7 after the first quarter. Lansing went into the locker room up 25-22 at halftime before the Thunderbirds tied the game up again after three quarters. Lansing would pull away in the fourth outscoring Shawnee Heights 17-9 to win 55-47.
Jaden Remington led Lansing with 18 points. Caleb Adams scored 12. The boys’ team finished the regular season with a 7-12 record. The two teams will be in action on Wednesday and Thursday for sub-state. The girls will travel to Highland Park on Wednesday and the boys head to St. James Academy on Thursday. Both games are scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
