The Pleasant Ridge boys’ basketball season came to a close on Tuesday in a 51-31 loss to Nemaha Central in the first round of 3A sub-state.
The Rams kept it close and trailed 6-5 after the first quarter before the Thunder outscored the Rams 16-7 in the second quarter to lead 22-12. Nemaha Central continued to build their led in the second half, scoring 16 and 13 points in the final two quarters. The Rams scored 10 and nine in each quarter.
“Despite a spirited effort defensively against a very experienced Nemaha team, the Rams were very cold shooting most of the evening,” head coach Pat Battle said.
Connor Gibson led the Rams with nine points. Jamar Reed had seven.
Pleasant Ridge finished the season 9-12. Battle said the team will miss the senior leadership of Reed and Trevor Lawson. But he said the Rams will return four starters and eight lettermen next season.
