The Basehor-Linwood Bobcats traveled to Seaman Thursday for their final regular season softball dobuleheader.

The Bobcats would fall to the Vikings 11-10 in the first game and 10-9 in the second.

The Bobcats jumped out 5-2 in the fourth before the Vikings scored nine runs in the bottom of the fourth and fifth to take an 11-8 lead. The Bobcats added two more runs in the sixth but it was not enough to come back.

Audrey Spellman led the Bobcats with four hits on the night. Paige Fox had three. Sadie McWilliams, Samantha Price and Kate Drennon each had two. Hanna Hull took the loss for the Bobcats. She allowed seven runs and 10 hits with one strikeout in 3.2 innings.

In the second game, the Vikings and Bobcats each scored eight runs in the first six innings and the game remained tied after seven.

The Bobcats added a run in the top of the eighth but Seaman would score two in the bottom of the eighth and take the walk-off win.

Spellman and McWilliams led the Bobcats with three hits each. Olivia Garvey, Price and Drennon each had two hits. Fox, Emma Horton and Mallory Gallet recorded one hit each.

Hanna Hull pitched for the Bobcats, allowing 17 hits and 10 runs with four strikeouts.

Despite the loss, Bobcats head coach Susan Mayberry said the team showed grit.

“We showed tremendous grit,” Mayberry said. “With regard to our two seniors, (Kate Drennon and Mallory Gallet) they both stepped up big time to provide the leadership during the games that we have been looking for. The games, by far, were the best offensive games that we have played, meaning that we provided the offensive attack instead of relying on defensive miscues. We came up short in both games but it wasn’t due to lack of effort.”

The Bobcats will return home on Tuesday to host their regional. The No. 4 seed Bobcats will play No.13 Bonner Springs at  2 p.m. The winner will play in the championship at 5 p.m. against the winner of No. 5 Emporia and No. 12 Pittsburg.
