Registration is underway for the 47th annual Leavenworth City Tennis Tournament later this month.
The event is slated for May 24-26 at the tennis courts at David Brewer Park.
The tournament will include a division for junior players and adults. The juniors’ portion of the tournament will begin at 9 a.m. May 24. The junior divisions are slated to be 18-under, 16-under and 14-under for boys and girls. The divisions may have to be combined if necessary. The adult tournament will start at 9 a.m. Saturday with singles play at 1:30 p.m. Sunday for doubles play. The adult tournament will have divisions for men’s singles and doubles, women’s singles and doubles, men’s 40-over singles and doubles and mixed doubles.
The tournament will be a best of three with the third set being a 10-point tiebreaker. All players are required to bring one can of heavy duty balls.
The entry fee for singles is $15 per person, per event. The entry fee for doubles is $25 per team, per event. To enter online, go to www.tinyurl.com/LVCityTennis2019
Entries also will be accepted at Leavenworth Parks and Recreation, located at the Riverfront Community Center, 123 S. Esplanade St. No telephone entries will be accepted. Entries will close May 22.
The tournament is only open to those who live or work in Leavenworth and former champions. Chris Chapman was last year's men's singles champion. Katie Rathjen was the women's singles champion.
