27 new COVID-19 cases reported in county
The Leavenworth County Health Department reported 27 new COVID-19 cases in the county on Monday.
This was the Health Department’s first update since Friday. The Health Department typically releases updates each Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
Twenty-five of the new cases reported Monday are what Health Department officials refer to as community cases. The other two cases involve inmates at the Lansing Correctional Facility.
The Leavenworth County Health Department also announced Monday that the 14-day average community positive test rate was 8.84%.
To date, there have been 1,728 confirmed cases of the virus in Leavenworth County. That number includes 806 community cases as well as 855 cases involving LCF inmates and 67 cases that involved inmates and personnel at the Grossman Center halfway house in Leavenworth.
Of the 806 community cases, 67 were considered active as of Monday afternoon.
Four Leavenworth County residents were in the hospital Monday because of COVID-19. A total of 57 county residents have been hospitalized because of COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic.
In addition to the 1,728 positive cases, there have been 12,969 negative results in Leavenworth County. This includes 274 negative results that have been reported since Friday.
