Police release photos from robbery
The Leavenworth Police Department is seeking the public’s help in identifying a woman who reportedly robbed a local convenience store.
Police released photographs of the woman on Friday. The images appear to have been taken from security camera footage.
The robbery was reported shortly after 10 p.m. Wednesday at Casey’s, 2100 S. Fourth St.
The woman reportedly entered the store and pretended to be purchasing cigarettes. At some point, she allegedly displayed a handgun and demanded money from the clerk, according to Leavenworth Police Chief Pat Kitchens.
The woman left the store with a small amount of money. No injuries were reported.
The robber has been described with a black woman who is about 50 years old and 5 feet, 3 inches tall.
She reportedly left the scene in a small blue four-door sedan that may have been a Chevrolet Cobalt with spare tires on its rear wheels.
Anyone with information about the woman can contact Detective Laura Flynn at 913-651-2260. People also can provide information anonymously by calling the Police Department’s clue line at 913-682-CLUE or 682-2583.
Kitchens said Friday that police already have received one tip with information that might be helpful.
