Challenger wins close register of deeds race

It appears Leavenworth County may have a new register of deeds in 2021.

But Leavenworth County will retain its current sheriff.

According to election night results from the County Clerk's Office, Republican challenger TerriLois Mashburn has defeated longtime Register of Deeds Stacy Driscoll, who is a Democrat.

The unofficial results show that Mashburn received 17,645 votes and Driscoll received 17,348 votes.

There may still be additional advance ballots as well as provisional ballots that can be counted in the race.

The county's election results will be certified Nov. 16.

Leavenworth County Sheriff Andy Dedeke, a Republican, defeated Democratic challenger Kent Leintz by vote margin of 20,287 to 14,975, according to the unofficial results from the County Clerk's Office.
