A-list actors, singers and religious scholars including Henry Winkler, Idina Menzel, Andy Cohen, Josh Groban and Billy Eichner are coming together virtually from their quarantined homes for an all-star online Seder.
The guest list is impressive for "Saturday Night Seder," an event streaming this Saturday (8 p.m. ET/5 PT) for free on the fourth night of Passover to celebrate the holiday with comedy and music. Along with imparting the biblical story of Exodus, the seder will also raise money to help first responders dealing with the coronavirus.
“In a time of confinement and uncertainty, a rag-tag team of Jews and non-Jewish Passover enthusiasts felt it was more important than ever to channel creative energies and gather community,” head writer Alex Edelman said in a statement. “We’re thrilled to be reinterpreting the timeless story of liberation and renewal while raising money for those on the front lines enduring — and fighting — an actual plague.”
Others attending the virtual Seder include Ben Platt, Alan Menken, Darren Criss, Cynthia Erivo, Jason Alexander, Skylar Astin, Sen. Chuck Schumer, Finn Wolfhard, Mayim Bialik, Rachel Brosnahan, D’Arcy Carden, Fran Drescher, Shoshana Bean, Beanie Feldstein, Stephen Schwartz, Harvey Fierstein, Dan Levy, Judith Light, Isaac Mizrahi, Busy Philipps, Ilana Glazer, Richard Kind and Milo Manheim.
The online celebrity service will stream on SaturdayNightSeder.com and on Tasty's YouTube page, and viewers will have the chance to donate to the CDC Foundation's COVID-19 Emergency Response Fund.
