Country music stars Kacey Musgraves and Willie Nelson teamed up for a memorable cover of The Muppets’ “Rainbow Connection” at the 53rd Annual Country Music Association (CMA) Awards on Wednesday night in Nashville.

The song was originally performed by Kermit in the 1979 cinema classic “The Muppet Movie,” and holds special significance for Musgraves, who performed the track when she was nine years old.

Fittingly, Musgraves’ hit song “Rainbow” earned the CMA for Music Video of the Year; it was also nominated for Song of the Year. The Golden, Texas native, whose “Golden Hour” won the 2019 Grammy Award for Album of the Year, was named the Female Vocalist of the Year.
