The Leavenworth Animal Welfare Society was a recipient of a Fort Leavenworth thrift store community assistance grant. Astrid Davis, left, store manager, and Linda Smith presented a check to LAWS. The money will be added to the free spay and neuter program fund. Since 2010, when LAWS started the program, over 25,000 dogs and cats in Leavenworth County have been sterilized, paid for by LAWS. The thrift store is located at 1025 Sheridan Drive on post. Its open to everybody. For more information, call 913-651-6768. Photo Credit: Andrea Mamaux
