More than 200 family members, friends, community members and teammates gathered Saturday at David Brewer Park in Leavenworth for a candlelight vigil honoring Leavenworth High School senior Eric Miller. Miller passed away Feb. 6 from injuries sustained in an altercation with another man in downtown Leavenworth.
Irecently discovered a sport for older adults called walking soccer. Apparently, it has been around for many years in the UK and occurs in more than 50 countries but is just now getting a good start in the United States. It is already being played in Coastal states and in Great Lakes states, but I am not certain that it has taken a hold in the Midwest.

To the editor: Why does the city of Leavenworth not clear the drains and the parking areas along Delaware Street when it snows? The drains were full of leaves, twigs and garbage, so the melting snow would pool up and create a small ice rink. As for snow removal, the last snow we had was wet and it did not melt quickly.
To the editor: I attended the Lansing school board meeting Feb. 13 and the room was really packed.
The difference between a government-controlled camera that followed a climactic moment in Rep. Kevin McCarthy’s election as House speaker and one operated by a C-SPAN journalist was like a fuzzy black-and-white picture contrasted with sparkling, clear color.
