Oliver Ilan West, Jr., 78, departed this earthly life on Tuesday, January 24, 2023, surrounded by many who loved him. Born May 16, 1944, in Oklahoma City, Okla., he was raised in an Army family with sister Beverly Twaddell (Bob) of Houston, Texas, and Barbara West (David McCullough) of Dallas, Texas.

‘Proud Basehor boy’ celebrates 100th birthday

One hundred years ago, Clyde Wilbur Grisham came into the world during a snowstorm so fierce that the doctor’s Model-T Ford got stuck on the way to the Grisham home. This year, Basehor’s VFW Post 11499 hosted a special event last weekend to celebrate his 100th birthday and honor the memorable milestones that Wilbur has made to the Basehor community over those years.

Storm produces up to two inches of snow

A s much as two inches of snow fell in some areas of Leavenworth County during Tuesday night’s winter storm. That is according to Master Deputy Zach Phillips, who is assigned to the Emergency Management Division of the Leavenworth County Sheriff’s Office.

Social media presents new challenges along with new ways to express our humanity

One of my current goals is to lengthen my attention span. I’ve seen criticism on social media and have heard from my own family about how Generation Z struggles to devote attention to content without constant stimuli. I’m quite critical of how a lot of pundits and older folks judge Gen Z, but unfortunately they’re absolutely spot on, to the point where even my nottoo- much-older boyfriend has complained about my inability to sit for longer films.
