Political credit grab instead of truth

To the editor: I’m glad to hear the new veterans home project is moving forward with the site selection complete in a good spot in Topeka, featuring a geographically central location on state-owned land allowing for maximum dollar impact when improving our nation’s hero’s quality of life. However, as a veteran and service officer, I am dumbfounded by Rep. Proctor’s continuous attempt to take full credit for this new home.

How much gets socked away?

Democratic Gov. Laura Kelly and the Republican-controlled Kansas Legislature are headed toward big fights over spending on special education programs, pay raises for government workers and how much the cash-flush state should sock away for worse economic times.

Chiefs top seed in AFC, but title game could be in Atlanta

Patrick Mahomes is the graybeard of the quarterbacks in the AFC playoffs even though he’s only 27 and wasn’t even born yet when Tom Brady was a freshman at the University of Michigan in 1995. He is most proud of his family and enjoyed spending time with his nine grandchildren: Kyle, Kaden, Jasper, and Sawyer Richardson, Myra, Bryce, and Ella Seifert, and Madalyn and Mason Oatney. Lenny is survived by his brother Dick (Patty) Oatney and sister Janet (Lee) Treft, both of Leavenworth, another brother Chris (Sandi) Oatney of Copperas Cove, Texas, sister-in-law Donna Oatney of Kansas City, Mo., many nieces, nephews, and greatnieces and -nephews.
