While dementia caused dad to forget everything and everyone, sometimes I wonder what he thought about the person I’d become. Even though dad and I didn’t have the greatest relationship throughout my life, the years being his caretaker made up for all of it.
For more than a decade, Debbie Earnheart has called Basehor home. She and her husband, John, moved to Basehor for health reasons, bringing their two children. When the Basehor Police Department opened its new station in November of 2019, John purchased a Christmas tree to be placed in the lobby. After Thanksgiving that year, Debbie decorated it with ornaments she designed, honoring each officer with an ornament containing their name and badge number, something that she continues to do.
