Higher food prices worsen hunger crisis this holiday season

Staffers at Bread for the City, a venerable charity in the nation’s capital, thought they were prepared for this year’s annual pre-Thanksgiving Holiday Helpers food giveaway. The pandemic had faded, but inflation was high, so they budgeted to give out 12,000 meals, 20% higher than normal pre-pandemic levels.

Artists have created artwork on obscure doors, windows and niches throughout downtown Leavenworth as part of Leavenworth Main Street’s First City Passageways art exhibit. Art creations can be found at eight locations. Making connections: An irreplaceable part of shopping local

One of my most basic personality traits is my love for Black Friday. Every year, while visiting my grandparents, my family and I used to go to the Mall of America for the occasion. I hated shopping until I was a proper teenager, likely because it’s hard to enjoy Black Friday with no money to spend.
